After World War II, Jaguar built a true 120-mph sports car with the
objective of earning sorely needed revenue from foreign markets. The
XK120 was a smash hit and was, of course, raced by many amateur and professional drivers.
Racing trim at the time included such modifications as faired racing
windscreens and mirror, ventilated brake drums, competition wire wheels
and tires, a leather hood strap, racing seats, and a quick-fill fuel
neck--but no roll bar. This XK120 is owned by Marie Archibee, a longtime
Jaguar enthusiast on Long Island, New York. I particularly like the way
the fence in this painting echoes the graceful lines of this "dream
Jag."
